Additional recipe notes

Feel free to use different frozen/thawed veggies of your choice. Fresh raw vegetables will need to be cooked first. Use baked chicken breast or rotisserie chicken. Canned chicken isn’t recommended since the texture doesn’t hold up as well. Cook the noodles al dente, since they keep softening in the hot sauce. Let the sauce simmer until it coats the back of a spoon before adding the noodles and chicken. Want to use the full bag of egg noodles? My recipe calls for 10 ounces of egg noodles. If you want to use the full 12 ounce bag, you’ll need to make 1½ times the sauce. Storage. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Freeze for up to 2 months and thaw overnight in the fridge. Stir as it warms to bring the sauce back together. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of cream or broth to loosen it.

Storage & reheating safety

For cooked, perishable leftovers, refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F), using shallow containers for prompt cooling. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below, use refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, and reheat hot leftovers to 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Follow any shorter package limit.

These are general safety limits, not a tested storage or freezing recommendation for this particular dish. USDA leftovers guidance · Safe cooking temperatures
