A few quick notes
1. Remove cooked chicken
Sauté chicken until golden and cooked through, then cover on a plate while the onion and pasta stages happen in the same pot.
2. Soften onion without browning
Lower the heat for onion and adjust it as needed so it softens before garlic and herbs join, without becoming brown.
3. Broccoli after five minutes
Let pasta boil five minutes in broth and milk before adding broccoli, then continue stirring often until the ziti is al dente.

Dry pasta choices
Ziti, penne, rigatoni or fusilli are listed. Cook directly in broth and milk, splashing in more milk if the mixture looks too dry.
Prepared artichoke hearts
Drain canned artichokes, quarter and pat dry before stirring into the pasta near the end with lemon and cooked chicken.
Fresh lemon juice
Add the juice with artichokes, Parmesan and parsley at the finish. The ingredient note also allows zest for extra lemon flavor.
