Additional recipe notes
Panko breadcrumbs produce a crispier breading. They can usually be found in the international or baking aisles of your local grocery store. If you can’t find Panko, regular breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes will work just fine. Five spice powder is commonly used in Chinese cooking and it’s usually a combination of cinnamon, cloves, fennel seed, star anise and szechuan peppercorns. Most grocery stores sell it in the spice aisle.
