Additional recipe notes
Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. You can also prep them and then place in the refrigerator to bake later. Freezer: Freeze calzones raw or freeze once baked. Place on a baking sheet and flash freeze them in a single layer. Once frozen, wrap individual calzones in plastic wrap and store in a freezer-safe bag or freezer-safe container for up to three months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating. You can also bake from frozen, just add some extra baking time. Bake fully cooked and thawed calzones for half the amount of time. To bake from raw, use the recommended bake time.
Storage & reheating safety
For cooked, perishable leftovers, refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F), using shallow containers for prompt cooling. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below, use refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, and reheat hot leftovers to 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Follow any shorter package limit.
