Additional recipe notes
Recipe makes approximately 12-14 cupcakes. Storage Leftover frosted cupcakes should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Unfrosted cupcakes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or at room temperature for 3-4 days. Unfrosted cupcakes can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Freezing To freeze unfrosted cupcakes, add cupcakes to a baking sheet and place the whole thing in the freezer for about 2 hours, or until hard. Wrap frozen cupcakes individually in plastic wrap, then transfer to an airtight freezer-safe container, label it with the date, then freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before frosting. I don’t recommend freezing the frosted cupcakes.
Storage & reheating safety
For cooked, perishable leftovers, refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F), using shallow containers for prompt cooling. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below, use refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, and reheat hot leftovers to 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Follow any shorter package limit.
These are general safety limits, not a tested storage or freezing recommendation for this particular dish. USDA leftovers guidance · Safe cooking temperatures
