Additional recipe notes

This batch serves 6–8, depending on portion size. The card uses 8 servings. Use 3½ tablespoons coconut oil total: ½ tablespoon for popping and 3 tablespoons for melting the marshmallows. The 10 ounces of marshmallows are melted together, then the melted mixture is divided equally between the popcorn coating and mummy drizzle. For a microwave-popcorn shortcut, use about 10 cups of popped popcorn (the yield varies by bag). Omit the kernels and ½ tablespoon popping oil, and use 3 tablespoons coconut oil for the marshmallow mixture. Lightly salted or plain popcorn is preferable to heavily buttered varieties. Candy corn, sprinkles, and edible candy eyes are optional toppings. Do not use craft googly eyes. Alternatively, shape the coated popcorn into popcorn balls of your preferred size; the flattened sheet shows the mummy pattern best.

Storage & reheating safety

For cooked, perishable leftovers, refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F), using shallow containers for prompt cooling. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below, use refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, and reheat hot leftovers to 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Follow any shorter package limit.
