Air Fryer Lobster Tails
Lobster with lemon-garlic butter already sounds like a dinner worth sitting down for. A little smoked paprika adds warmth to these tails, and parsley brightens the finish. Spoon the extra butter over the exposed meat so there's some to enjoy with each tender bite.

A few quick notes
1. Cut to the shell, not through it
Use kitchen shears to open the top shell lengthwise, then stop before you cut through the bottom. You want the tail to spread open while still holding together in the basket.
2. Save some butter for the end
Brush only half of the warm butter mixture over the lobster before cooking. The rest gets spooned over after the meat is opaque, so every tail gets a fresh buttery finish.
3. Watch the meat
The air fryer time is short, and the best cue is the lobster meat turning opaque. Check near the end of the range so it doesn't go past that point.
Get to know the ingredients
Lobster tails
The recipe uses small lobster tails, and frozen ones are fine as long as they're thawed before you start cutting and cooking. Trying to butterfly them frozen would make the shell work much harder than it needs to be.
Unsalted butter
Unsalted butter gives you room to season the mixture with salt and pepper yourself. Melt it gently, then let the garlic, lemon zest and paprika warm through for another minute.
Smoked paprika
A little smoked paprika goes into the butter mixture, not directly onto the lobster. Stirring it into the melted butter helps carry that smoky color and flavor across the meat.

The last little job
The last little job
Once the lobster is opaque, spoon over the reserved butter mixture and add the chopped parsley. Lemon wedges are part of the serving step too, if you want that bright squeeze at the table.
A little more help as you go
Keep the meat facing up
After you spread the shell open, place the tails in the air fryer basket with the meat facing up. That keeps the butter on the lobster instead of trapped underneath.
No air fryer option
You can also cook the buttered lobster tails on a baking sheet under the broiler for about 5 to 10 minutes.
A few questions you might have
Do I cut all the way through the lobster tail?
No. Cut lengthwise through the top hard shell, but don't cut through the bottom shell. The tail should open up like a book while staying attached.
Can I use frozen lobster tails?
Yes, but thaw them first. Once they're thawed, follow the same butterflying, brushing and air frying steps.
Why is half the butter mixture kept aside?
Half goes on before cooking, and the reserved half is spooned over after the lobster is done. That final spoonful brings the lemon, garlic and paprika back to the surface.
How do I know the lobster is cooked?
The recipe's doneness cue is opaque lobster meat. Cook at 380°F and start checking during the short cooking window so you can pull the tails when they reach that point.
Can I change the herbs or spices?
Yes, add your favorite herbs and spices to suit your taste, then follow the same basic cooking steps.
