Additional recipe notes
Broth: I have used Better Than Bullion base to make broth. It is just easier to keep it at hand for all my cooking. You may want to skip adding salt if using this. Orzo: Adjust the sauté time after adding the orzo, based on the cooking time on the pasta package. You can also use whole-wheat or gluten-free orzo. Chicken: To make sure the chicken is cooked to the right temperature, use an instant read thermometer , so you are not guessing. Spinach: Add spinach to make this Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup more nutritious. Storing: Let the soup cool down to room temperature. Then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days . Reheat the soup in the microwave or on the stovetop over medium heat. The pasta will likely absorb all the liquid when stored. Add some chicken broth or water before reheating.
Storage & reheating safety
For cooked, perishable leftovers, refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F), using shallow containers for prompt cooling. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below, use refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, and reheat hot leftovers to 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Follow any shorter package limit.
These are general safety limits, not a tested storage or freezing recommendation for this particular dish. USDA leftovers guidance · Safe cooking temperatures
