Additional recipe notes
Storage/Reheating/Make Ahead You can easily get the prep out of the way ahead of time. Chop your vegetables, slice the sausage, cut the chicken, and measure out your seasonings. Keep everything covered in separate containers in the fridge until you are ready to cook. If you make the dish ahead of time, cool it down quickly and transfer it to airtight containers. Because jambalaya contains chicken, rice, and seafood, prompt refrigeration is key for food safety. Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To reheat, warm individual portions gently on the stovetop or in the microwave until hot throughout. The rice will soak up liquid as it sits, so add a small splash of chicken broth or water to bring back the moisture. Only reheat the portion you plan to eat rather than warming the same batch multiple times. Happy cooking! Xx Cover your dish with a lid on the stovetop or a damp paper towel in the microwave while reheating. The trapped steam keeps the rice tender and prevents the shrimp from turning tough.
Storage & reheating safety
For cooked, perishable leftovers, refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F), using shallow containers for prompt cooling. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below, use refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, and reheat hot leftovers to 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Follow any shorter package limit.
These are general safety limits, not a tested storage or freezing recommendation for this particular dish. USDA leftovers guidance · Safe cooking temperatures
