Additional recipe notes
Storage Apple cider carnitas may be cooked up to 4 days ahead and stored in the fridge. Warm back up in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes, or in a frying pan on medium heat for 5 minutes. You may also freeze in a heavy freezer bag or reusable silicone bag for up to 3 months. Apple salsa does not keep well and should not be prepared ahead.
Storage & reheating safety
For cooked, perishable leftovers, refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F), using shallow containers for prompt cooling. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below, use refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, and reheat hot leftovers to 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Follow any shorter package limit.
These are general safety limits, not a tested storage or freezing recommendation for this particular dish. USDA leftovers guidance · Safe cooking temperatures
