Additional recipe notes

Can I use maple syrup or honey instead of brown sugar? Yes, use your favorite sweetener in this instead of brown sugar. Two tablespoons of maple or brown sugar will be the perfect amount to compliment the sweet potatoes. Would this recipe work with squash? You can use cut up acorn squash or butternut squash with this recipe. The cooking time remains the same.
