Additional recipe notes

When you are done serving your trifle cake, top the large glass bowl with plastic wrap and keep it in the refrigerator for up to you 3-4 days. Beyond the 4th day, the angel food cake will begin to get soggy. Especially it the cake was left out at room temperature for a while. You can serve this trifle as small individual trifles in a glass jar or mason jar. Top the trifle with fresh lemon slices. Sprinkle lemon juice sparingly on the layers of angel food cake for more lemon flavor.

Storage & reheating safety

For cooked, perishable leftovers, refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F), using shallow containers for prompt cooling. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below, use refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, and reheat hot leftovers to 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Follow any shorter package limit.
