A few questions you might have
What should I prepare first?
Set out the pot. Start with this step: Add the oil, butter, tomato paste, sun-dried tomatoes, oregano, garlic, red pepper flakes, and orzo to a pot over medium-high heat.
Which preparation step should I plan for?
Follow the covered and uncovered stages in their stated order.
What check should I look for as it cooks?
Take the pot off the heat, and cover it for 3-5 minutes or until it has thickened up to your liking.
Is there another preparation step to plan for?
Have the next addition ready when the mixture reaches the boil described.
Additional recipe notes
If the pasta is soaking up the liquid too fast (i.e. before the orzo is cooked), reduce the heat and/or add another splash of broth or cream. If there’s too much liquid, cover the pot for longer than suggested in the recipe and the orzo will absorb it quickly.
Storage & reheating safety
For cooked, perishable leftovers, refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F), using shallow containers for prompt cooling. Keep the refrigerator at 40°F or below, use refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days, and reheat hot leftovers to 165°F, checked with a food thermometer. Follow any shorter package limit.
